Born 1947, joined the Rifle Brigade in 1963 as a boy soldier serving as a musician until 1974. During this time he served in Germany, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and Malaya, and saw the Rifle Brigade disbanded to re-emerge as the 3rd Battalion Royal Green Jackets in 1966.

In civilian life he has his own painting and decorating company in Holyhead, Anglesey. He is a keen regimental historian and researcher belonging to the Orders, Medals and Research Society, Military Historical Society, Crimean War Research Society and an avid supporter of the Rifle Brigade and Royal Green Jackets Associations.
